Each year Gartner produces one of the most comprehensive lists of strategic technology trends that CIOs and other senior executives should be considering.
Following is an overview of the Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2019, as presented by David Cearley, Gartner Distinguished Vice President Analyst, at Gartner 2018 Symposium/ITxpo in Orlando, Florida. The list highlights changing, or not yet widely recognised trends, that will impact and transform industries through 2023.
According to an article on NZ Reseller News, New Zealand IT spending will grow 2.6 percent in 2019, to reach $13.5 billion.
The article references Gartner’s quarterly forecast, noting spending on communication services equate to approx. 36% ($4.9 billion), followed by IT services at approx. 33% ($4.5 billion).
Spending on software (10%), and data centres (3.2%) is also expected to increase in 2019.
Spending on Cloud services and applications, and enterprise software is expected to grow faster than any other IT category in 2019 according to a report from market research and consultancy firm Gartner, and an article in U.S. CIO magazine.
The basic driver for the increased spending is suggested to be digital transformation.
